Default GadgetSpots.net Kicks Ass On 24 Independent Test Results !!!

Source: http://www.kickstartdaily.com/blog/i...-24-hours.html

www.GadgetSpots.net - my first 24 hours results.

A couple of days ago I was informed about a new method of monetizing websites called GadgetSpots.

The idea is, on the surface, similar to AdSense in that a block of small, classified-style ads is displayed on your site, but the similarity is only in the appearance.

Under the hood GadgetSpots and AdSense are two very different animals.

With AdSense, Google serve up contextually relevant (mostly) ads which advertisers have agreed to pay an amount for each time they are clicked on. Google then share part of that revenue with you. While it is still a quick and easy way to monetize websites, most people have seen their AdSense revenues drop substantially in the last year or so as Google make it harder for 'content network' members (you and I) to earn anything like what we used to.

As a result of the dropping incomes, many people are turning their backs on AdSense and looking for alternative ways to passively monetize their sites.

Enter a guy called Bill Burdin.

Bill is a very successful Internet marketer, but he, like everyone else, saw his substantial AdSense incomes dwindle. Bill's background is in creating substantial classified ad networks and so he set his mind to the task of inventing a new system of website monetization that would combine the simplicity of AdSense with the power of classified advertising - and at the same time, make the whole thing compellingly viral.

No small task, but he seems to have cracked it with GadgetSpots.

When you sign up for GadgetSpots (you can join for free) you get a snippet of code to add to your websites and blog templates that looks just like the one you are used to from AdSense. You choose the size and shape of the ad block, set the colors and determine the category that your site best fits into (this isn't automatically contextual - you are in control). Having done all that, you just sit back and let the magic work!

Here is where it gets really clever.

You can now create small AdSense-style classified ads for your own products - or for products that you are affiliate for - and they will be displayed in the ad blocks on other people's websites.

How often they will be displayed depends on whether you are a free member or a paid-up 'Pro' member. According to GadgetSpots' own figures, out of every 1m time the ads are displayed, free members will get 2500 showings and paid members, 7500.

Also, every time the ad block is shown on your own site, there is a link displayed for viewers to join up themselves - using your affiliate link. Each time someone joins as a Pro member, you will receive $6 per month for the duration of their membership and $3 from the second tier (people who sign up under people you've signed up).

This passive income dimension is potentially very valuable and will certainly help to make GadgetSpotsgrow virally.

So, the idea is sound, the code is easy to generate and very fast to add to your sites (there are even videos in the GadgetSpots knowledge base that show how to add the code to WordPress and Blogger blogs).

In case you are concerned, there should be no problem with running both GadgetSpots and AdSense on the same sites - GadgetSpots is not contextual and so doesn't break Google's terms and conditions (as a matter of fact, Google seem to have now removed their objection to appearing on the same pages as other contextual systems anyway, so it may now be a non issue).

But here's the $64,000 question: does it work?

I'm going to share my results with GadgetSpots for the first 24 hours that I had it installed on one blog - and I can tell you, I'm very pleased!

I placed the code on http://www.imkickstart.com on the morning of Wednesday 19th March - just before the Easter break.

I also created four classified ads to be listed, three of them for my own products and one for a product that I'm an affiliate for.

I mentioned it in my newsletter, which went out later that day.

After 24 hours, here are my first results:

Total number of times the ad block has been shown: 370
Total number of clicks my 4 ads have received: 12

That's a 3.2% clickthrough rate out of the box!

Products sold from those clicks: 2

Income generated: $99

Number of people who have signed up via my link: 11

Number who have upgraded to Pro status so far: 1

Monthly 'Residual' income generated so far: $6

$99 plus $6 recurring is staggering for a first day test! We'll have to see about the long term, but right now I'm mightily impressed.

I don't know about you, but to me those figures are amazing - especially as they represent just one day of using GadgetSpots on just one website.

I've started adding the code to other blogs I own, and will certainly be including it on all of my blogs and websites from now on - and adding more ads to the system.

While upgrading to pro status is not necessary to get some of the benefits, the 30-fold increase in the number of times your ads will be shown is, in my opinion, worth every penny!

P.S. You can see the GadgetSpots Tower block near the top of the right-hand column under the 'Sponsors' heading on my site, http://www.imkickstart.com.

*** 48 hours update ***
Day 1 wasn't a fluke. Day 2 saw two more sales, netting $104, and two more 'Pro' signups, bringing my monthly residual up to $18.

GadgetSpots, can you afford NOT to be trying it out ?

;-)
