Default True friendship

I got this from one of my daughters, who is as...er..."eccentric"...as I am.

True Friendship...

Are you tired of those sissy-azz "friendship" poems that you're
always getting in e-mails??? Well, here's a new one...

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge
against the sorry bastard who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking
you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you finally got laid.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass.

9. This is my oath..... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask; "because you are my friend".

Send this to 10 of your closest friends, then get depressed because you can only think of 4.

Remember.......A good friend will help you move.....a REALLY good
friend will help you move a body.......let me know if you ever need me to
bring a shovel.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.

Hey, Morgan!

The way I heard that is a good friend might give you an alibi but your best friend is the one who helps you bury the body with no questions asked when you show up at 2am.

Lol.

That's pretty much how I see it. Most people aren't friends, they are aquaintances.

Best friends are worth more than gold.

Hey, Morgan!

It's true...most people are "acquaintances." There really isn't a good word for "just somebody I've met" so we tend to call them "friends," which dilutes and demeans the title.

Becoming a real "friend" takes time and effort. It's sad that so few people are willing to put forth what it takes to be a real friend.

We live in a fast paced, disposable world. Most people see relationships as disposable, too.

My best friend is my ex and I'm very glad to have her still in my life.

I've often been both saddened and shocked that most people take better care of their houseplants than they do the relationships in their lives.

All relationships take work. Business, personal, intimate, familial....they all require time and effort. Few people realize that and are willing to do what needs to be done.

Yet we go on using the word "friend" to describe "people we know."

Has "friendship" been reduced to that?

Here's something I got in my email today - very appropriate:

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest.
A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself (and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your 'beer drawer' with her foot!)
A simple friend has never seen you cry.
A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears.
A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names.
A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.
A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party.
A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean.
A simple friend hates it when you call after they've gone to bed.
A real friend asks you why you took so long to call.
A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems.
A real friend seeks to help you with your problems.
A simple friend wonders about your romantic history.
A real friend could blackmail you with it.
A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument.
A real friend calls you after you had a fight.
A simple friend expects you to always be there for them.
A real friend expects to always be there for you!

That's what makes them valuable.

Real friends are quite rare.

I know for myself, I'm a very private person. I know a lot of people, but there are only a handful of people that I let in and allow to get close. Those that I do let in, know that I love them dearly and would do anything for them and would just "be there" if needed. They do the same for me. We all have our moments and relationships of any kind can be stressful at times, but it's how one deals with those times that make a difference.
