Canadians and Alexander Keith's beer drinkers
TORONTO (CP) - An actor known for his role as an obnoxious Scotsman in television beer advertisements will appear in court next month on child pornography charges.
Robert Smith was not in court today when lawyers agreed to remand his case to April 27. Defence counsel for the 40-year-old Toronto actor say they have not yet received all disclosure of evidence from the Crown.
Smith was charged in February with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of making it available over the Internet.
He was best known as the loud Scotsman who berated pub patrons and bartenders in commercials for Alexander Keith's beer.
Officials with Labatt Breweries, which owns the Alexander Keith's brand, pulled the ads and have ended further association with Smith.
Smith was released on $25,000 bail
