Montreal riot squad called in after Jackass show: six arrested

MONTREAL (CP) - About ten car windows were smashed, a journalist was urinated on and six people were arrested after a so-called Jackass show that features crazy stunts and self-mutilation.
A police riot squad was called in Saturday night following the latest stop on Steve-O's Don't Try This At Home Tour, which was held at a downtown nightclub.
The crowd soon grew rowdy and began damaging trash cans and exposing themselves to passersby on Ste-Catherine Street, slowing traffic on the busy commercial strip. The riot squad intervened about thirty minutes after the trouble began, and then left the area when the traffic flow resumed.
But the crowd returned minutes later and began damaging more property before police chased them away a second time.
Six people were arrested, and one faces a mischief charge while five others will be charged with disturbing the peace, said police.
The tour, inspired by an MTV show, had caused controversy in Quebec City on Tuesday after a woman was struck with a bottle, a man was arrested outside the venue and audience members in the street punched each other and had their feet run over by cars.
Montreal police spokesman Robert Mansueto said the damage after Saturday's show was kept to a minimum because police were aware of the possibility of trouble.
"We knew this type of show could have taken place," he said.
"With the footage we saw in Quebec City, we were prepared and you saw that aside from a few isolated incidents, we maintained control."
The show was in town as part of a North American tour that's cashing in on the fame that Steve-O garnered on his Jackass MTV show and a subsequent Jackass movie.
