How I Cybersexed My Way Into the Porn Business
By Morgan Grayson
I think I could describe it best by saying "I fell into it." I was never a surfer, even for non-adult things, much less porn. What I did love to do was "chat." I found an adult chat room, and discovered the fun of cyber-sex. I'm a writer, and I considered cybering a way of keeping my writing skills sharp. (It doesn't really matter *what* you're writing...as long as you're writing.) I had phone sex a couple of times just for fun.
I needed a job where I could work from home. I thought "phone sex." I didn't know what it paid or if I could do it on a regular basis, but I decided there was no harm in taking a shot. I sent an email to the original "Heather's Honeys" because the site was pretty and classy. I was hired...immediately. Heather hadn't even heard my voice yet. Later, I asked her why, and she said "intelligent women just don't apply for this job." Ah...I said. I worked for heather and discovered that yes, phone sex paid nicely, and yes, I could do it regularly.
She gave me a couple of her stories to read and, since she knew I was a writer, asked me if I could write porn. Thanks to becoming mildly famous in my adult chat room for cybering...I could. I wrote a bunch of stories. Heather marketed them for me, then helped me with my first site. She designed it for me. It was absolutely lovely. (It was even nominated for an "AVN" award.)
I joined the C.O.N.D.O.M. Project. I loved the concept of "webmasters helping other webmasters." At that time, all I had to bring to the table was rampant cheerfulness...which began my career as "webmaster cheerleader" for various webmaster boards.
I'm now on my latest "incarnation" on the adult 'net. I've been in and out, the last "out" lasting several years. This is the best "in" I've ever had. Nothing like knowledge, experience, knowing what to ask and when to listen to make money.
I'm still a "webmaster cheerleader," though. I always will be.
