VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - A Canadian province wants to make it easier for people to say they are sorry without the fear of being sued.

British Columbia proposed legislation on Tuesday to allow people, companies and public officials to apologize without it becoming an admission of liability.

"There are times when an apology is very important and appropriate, but the legal implications have been uncertain," Attorney General Wally Oppal said.

The province's ombudsman had asked for the legislation, saying in a report in February that apologies can soothe the anger of citizens wronged by the government.

Wow. Just imagine. They can go back to the time when there were "accidents" and "oopsies" and "no hard feelings" without the attendent lawsuits the US has.

I'm impressed.

If you say sorry you are admitting guilt and accepting responsibility for those actions.

As in .. "oh I am sorry old boy, I seemed to have slipped and my penis got stuck in your wife and wriggle as we might it took an age to get it free" to which the reply would be "Oh don't give it another thought, accidents happen and only the other week the vicar did the self same thing; its quite alright"
