How did you treat your mom, last day?
I just call her up and greet her, can't kiss her as she's miles away. |

My Mom passed away years ago. I finally got over feeling morbidly depressed and sorry for myself on Mother's Day, but it took a very long time. I think about my Mom on Mother's Day, though, and what I'd do for her if I could. (It would involve chocolates and pistachio ice cream.)
Luckily, I'm crazy about my mother-in-law. I sent her flowers. It's fun to send that woman flowers because she enjoys them so much. Some people say "thanks for the flowers, they're beautiful." She describes each and every bloom in the bouquet. This arrangement had, to quote, "a really pretty big pink thing" in it. (She recognized the carnations and the irises, but was a little shaky on the rest of them.) I also sent her a card and an e-card, and threatened the lives of my children if they forgot to send e-cards to their Nana. (They remembered.)

I only saw my mom for a brief time because she had to work. Me and my bro brought her flowers, chocolates, a stuffed kitty (so cute, it had big 'ol eyes, hehe) and of course a card. It was good to see her and dad...they both work so much, I hardly see them.

For my boyfriends mom (kind of like my mother in law cuz I've been with her son for about 4 years now) We woke up early and cleaned the whole house, then surprised her with flowers. It was nice. Normally I have a big problem with her because of the way she treats Taylor (my bf) but we were really nice to her on Mom's Day.

 | HIH...I had huge problems with my mother-in-law initially. I couldn't figure out what the hell to do...until I accidentally cracked the code. The woman wanted me to call her "Mom." That's it. Once I started doing that, all was well.

It may be the same for you, HIH. Not calling her "Mom," I mean necessarily...but a "something" that she wants. Once she gets it, the whole relationship changes. You can't change a lifetime of her relationship with Taylor, but it might be something as simple as her wanting some household help that she feels she should be getting from her child/children.

I know that if you showed up and cleaned MY house like that...I'd KILL for you!

I called my Mom and wished her a happy Mother's Day. She spent the day at my brother's house this year. We see her all the time though, so a phone call sufficed this year.

Yeah, if I don't make my mom cry on mother's day I'm doing something wrong. LOL! |

I got my mother an set of margarita glasses and a really nice spa set. For my grandmother my mom and I set it up with my Uncle to "show up" for the mothers day festivities. Grandma never saw it coming, it was perfect. |

my mom passed only a few years ago - and although I miss her alot, the best way I can celebrate her is to have a happy life and living with the values she instilled in me and giving the best I can - the fullest in the years to follow.

 | Thank you, my Robert. That was lovely and it helped me.
One of the things you have to have ready when you have kids is what I call "the death talk." The very first time my two little bits fell in love with mice at the pet store my first thought was "oh, shit, I have to get the death talk ready." (Mice only hang around for a couple of years.) Well, dead pets, like balloons that slip away, all go up to this beautiful place that I described to them...and Grandma. If I was at all accurate in my description, my mother is sitting under a tree full of balloons (she despises balloons) surround by cats, dogs, mice, rats, chickens and a hermit crab.

Boy, is my Mom pissed.
