There's a great book called
Queen of the Oddballswhich is the memoirs of Hilary Carlip, a young woman who grew up in Hollywood, stalked Carly Simon, won the Gong Show, was an extra in Xanadu, and created her own punk band called Angel & The Reruns who had the cult hit "Beaver Cleaver Fever". Her chapter about the Gong Show brings back a flood of memories.
