When I was a kid my family went on a cross country trip from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles, stopping at every little hole in the wall tourist trap along the way that caught our fancy. My parents still talk about Corn Palace with wonder.
I always say I'm a natural born tourist. When I go on a trip I very much prefer to stop at truck stop diners, cheesy souvenir shops and any tourist trap with a half-decent gimmick. And I owe it all to my dad. Although I think I view these marvels in quite a different way then he did.
We used to go to Florida to Disneyworld quite frequently throughout my childhood and we always would stop at
South of the Border in Dillon, South Carolina. Beware, this is about as un-PC as you can get!
