Yeah I don't think it is either. If it was the US would win.

I don't think its fixed per se.... but I find it odd that Germany and Brazil were in opposite sides of the Elimination rounds... so that they would only meet in the final if it came down to that.

No offense to peeps of the states but I never cheer for you guys to win anything especially hockey, but you know it is cool that Germany is in it, nice to see the host country win, but I just can't get over the fact that england and most of all brazil is not in it anymore, the French Figure Skating Judge from the Olympics must be on the soccer panel.....LOL

If they fixed the World Cup so that the US could win it would start WW3 because the US is so bad it would be so obvious.

Wow thats just wrong. There is some nice folks here. I usually vote for the closest home team as possible. If not the US then Mexico or Canada and then down to south america. I'm just a home team type of guy.

See the problem isn't that we Don't like the US... the problem is that the US steals all of our games .... and then thinks they can beat us at them... especially hockey.

So we never cheer for the US because we have Our own (usually much better) teams to cheer for

That's the general attitude about everything in the US.
The worst part is in the US, they (we) generally know nothing
about anything that they (we) cheer for, they're (we're) fans when
they (we) have tickets to an event, they (we) cheer for it for
a week, then they (we) are done being fans until next time.

Only country that seems worse is France. But at least they would
know who their players are ..... even if half the team is from Africa.

as long as Italy or Portugal are still in it, I don't think it is fixed.! if they were gone as well as Brazil, Argentina, England etc, then that wld be different!

Since Germany (and the US) is out I think the idea of a fixed can be put to sleep.

I am sure that a game or two can be rigged or the ref's may be manipulated to some degree - nothing is perfect and untouchable. Hell even the olympics were thought to be honest - I am certain one day a scandle is going to break out of how someone was threatened or paid off for a call in some way or another

I will say though that if any journalist even got a sniff that it was fixed they wouldn't think twice about exposing it and having the sporting story of the year.

Would a fix of the World Cup, Super Bowl, World Series, Tour de France,
Olympics be a bigger scandal?

every sport has it's problems - my hope is that it isn't fixed - but reality, money and power means that there is always the chance it is. Either way as long as they keep it to a minimum and not be so blatant - I'll be okay
