Rock Concerts
I've been to my share of rock concerts over the years...
The very first one I ever saw was in 1982... I was 16.
It was The Tubes, and the opening act was The Plimsouls. I can't believe I remember the opening act... they must have been good.
Since then I've seen a lot... Some of the more memorable ones have been:
Rolling Stones
Pink Floyd
David Bowie
U2
Pearl Jam
Foo Fighters
Beck <--- probably the best show I ever saw...

I had fun seeing a show on the KISS reunion tour. It was surreal seeing those guys in the makeup and outfits etc. From what I have seen, it was just like the 70's shows they used to do. And the makeup hid all their wrinkles etc.

The Who 2002- Mansfield (Boston) last July
By the way, if someone wants to read (and see pics) about what happened in the trip to see The Who with my twin brother, go read this :

Tkt, my list'd be at least that long, I think. But I noticed you're missing one of the all-time best 80s show bands: TWISTED FUCKIN' SISTER!
My first concert was Emerson, Lake & Palmer at the Long Beach Arena in 1976... a looooong time ago! I think the last one I went to was probably Nazareth, at a small club in Orange County last year -- from the comfort of a private balcony box! Those motherfuckers are OLD, but man they can still rock!
I think I got spoiled in the 80s, when I always saw shows either from backstage or the VIP section. Nowadays the thought of schlepping through a large venue to spend a few hours trying to see a show by having to constantly look over, around and under a few thousand other people (most of whom are taller than me), is enough to make me want to stay home and wait til the show comes out on DVD. I have a really low tolerance for crowds (especially concert crowds -- I had a really bad experience in 1978 at a Stones concert; 55,000 people and they all wanted to stand where I was!); I get downright belligerant when I start feeling trapped... so I avoid them as much as possible.
Hopefully, though, one day in the not-too-distant future, I'll be able to attend one of the shows when Dee Snider's SMFs are somewhere I can get to without having to spend a fortune on airfare. Dee's worth crackin' a couple heads to defend my space for!
Once an SMF, Always an SMF! <<-- my dorky nostalgia site

Well, My list is pretty short, mainly 'cause I have a hard time paying $50-$150. for a ticket when the Greatest Hits album will set me back $20.00 LOL However, I HAVE been to a few and have had a wonderful time.
The best...??
A tie between
Meatloaf and Weird Al
Also got to see REO Speedwagon, Lynard Skynard, Allen Parsons Project, Air Supply (my first concert at 16--I loved it! LOL), and a few others here and there.
On my list that I would LOVE to see (or wished I could have...)
Queen
Eagles
Bob Segar
Huggs!!
Lady Sharlot :-)

Hehe, in fact that was the next morning when we were driving back to Montréal. My hair was wet and we left the car windows open all the time (maybe 6 hours ?). So this is what happened. I'm a sexy bitch when I'm wet !

bobby brown
monster concert (like lollapalooza late 80's)
smokin grooves 1-2
bush
the toadies
the orb
moby
earl spam...err pearl jam
jazzfest 2 times (big thing in new orleans, if you've never been you should come down for it, it's silly good)
the roots
reggaefest
george winston (pianist)
bobby womack (bunch of old school R&B people a month ago here in B.R.)
LIVE-AID
i think that's all, i probably forgot 5-10 hehe

A few more have come to mind
Alice Cooper
Steely Dan
Elton Jonn
Dead Kennedys
999
Robin Trower
Flo & Eddie
am sure more will come to mind later, but you have to remember, the drugs were very good back then, so my memory is not what it probably should be.
I had tickets to see Jimi Hendrix, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young but I stayed out too late at the submarine races and my dad confiscated them. Never will forgive him for that.
A couple people mentioned Dokken. Several years ago I won tickets for a concert at a very small venue. While waiting for the show to start, this blonde, long haired guy was walking by my table when he suddenly was rushed by people asking him for his autograph. He asked if he could sit at my table while he signed them. I said okay, then asked him who the hell he was.
He said his name was Don Dokken. I asked him why anyone would want his autograph, and he told me he had a band, Dokken. I told him I had no idea who they were, but got an autograph for my sister. He seemed like a nice enough guy.

Reading over the posts a couple more came to mind too!
I also saw Nashville Pussy, cant' say I enjoyed it though! lol
PJ Harvey, missed half her show when she opened for U2, what an idiot I am, I love her music.
Jeff Healey
The Catherine Wheel
Honeymoon Suite
Offspring
Joan Jett
Glueleg (many times, my friend worked for their managment company)
The Pursuit of Happiness
Space Hog
I never saw Henry Rollins, he has been through Toronto a few times also doing readings, I NEED to see him.
One of my biggest concert regrets was also missing Nirvana. I feel like a fool for that one.
Also meant to see Stabbing Westward at a very small venue, put off buying tickets, it sold out and now they are no more!
And i didn't upack my ticket stubs yet, turns out I left them at my ex's, I hear they're ok though! LOL
D'oh!

hey Shann, if you don't mind driving, Rollins is doing a spoken word show Nov. 11 at Northern Michigan University. Guessing it's probably a 6 hour drive from Toronto. I'm going to see him this Sunday. His spoken word shows are excellent and even if you don't like his music (you better not admit that to me...lol) you might still enjoy the spoken word.

I saw Henry Rollins spoken word show about 8 years ago here in Montreal. It was good....
He stood up there and spoke about his early days and his old NYC appartment and stuff. Kind of a cross between comedy and personal life experiences.

lol Gunner i love Henry Rollins, years ago he was in town for Canadian Music Week and he was supposed to be at a party I went to (used to hang out with music industry bottom feeders) and I bought an outfit just to see him but he was a no show! LOL That was the night that Bryan Adams was with his agent/roadie or whatever and offered us a ride home as we stumbled down Queen St here in Toronto..... we were out of our minds and I opted to buy a donut instead! ROFL
6 hours is a long way in a cab, i don't drive!
When he makes it up here, I'm gonna go for SURE this time!
Evil Chris, seems like we saw a lot of the same bands, I wonder if we were at the same concerts ever! LOL
Oh i remember more bands I've seen:
Rusty and the Doughboys - both from Montreal i think?

Okay,
My parents decided to become hardcore christians right about the time I should have been going to concerts... so my first 3 concerts were all "christian rock" Striper, Carmen and Petra.... aie!
My freshmen year of high school, my best friend was dating this really rich senior (his parents owned a good 1/4 of our city haha) - He invited us to go see Pink Floyd (2nd row center). I (being the dumbass I was) had no clue who pink floyd was and said NO! ARGH! I could just beat myself now!!
Since then, I have seen some good and not so good shows - mostly hard metal, cause thats what the guy I was dating at the time liked...
I've seen:
Pantera
Machinehead
Primer 55
Kings X
DreamTheater
Korn
Slayer
Fear Factory
Nine Inch Nails
Marilyn Manson
Hmmmm I prolly missed some, but oh well hehehe
I would have seen Marilyn MManson twice, but buran and cshep (our programmers) swent without me!! The bastards!! hahahaha

My parents dragged me out of school to go see concerts when I was a kid:
Stix
Neil Diamond
Barry Mannallow
As for ones I've went to on my own...
311 5 times
Cypress Hill
The Roots
The Pharcyde
Guns n Roses
Metallica
Faith No More
Eek-A-Mouse
DelaSoul
Ween
I know there's a bunch more that I'm missing, we have a festival called The Jazz Fest every year and they've always got a lot of people playing there.

I started going to concerts when I was 16.
In the 70's I saw
Aerosmith
Blue Oyster Cult
Rod Stewart
Brian Ferry and Roxy Music
Pink Floyd (it was very cool.. right about the time they released their animals ALBUM)
Uriah Heep
Ted Nugent
Dave Mason
Savoy Brown
Elvis Costello
Devo (before they recorded anything..saw them at Kent State in a "backyard" concert.. about 40 people were there LOL)
Fleetwood Mac
J Geils Band
and then more recently...
Alanis Morrisette
James Taylor
Lynyrd Skynrd (remaining members)
The Wallflowers
I'd love to go to more concerts but can never find anyone that wants to go...

I like 311 a lot too... They have a distinct sound to them...
The band I have seen the most is the Foo Fighters.
Saw them the first time in a bar in Montreal in August of 95. I knew that would be the last time I'd see them in such a small venue.
I guess I've seen them 4 or 5 times now.
But it's funny... I feel so old when I go see concerts now. It's mostly kids in their teens there...

311 is one of my all time favorites. They put on an awesome show. The first time I saw them was a while back in a small venue down here. I've seen them nearly every time they come down here now.
I saw Incubus a LONG time ago at this little place called Jimmy's. You could fit maybe 50-60 people in this little bar. They were bad ass. They weren't big then but my girlfriend at the time had known about them and we got to hang out with them after the show. I'd like to see them again as well.
