I'm with Cyndalie on this one....
Getting together with Buran totally mellowed me out. I too was a bit uhhhh wild in my single days... (can you imagine?!)
Change is a good thing - if its a mutual thing. Yes, there are gonna be some stupid little things she will want you to change - the same goes for you tho - you will not love every little thing she does, and will want her to change too - thats comprimise.
For example....
As I said earlier - I can be a bit ....wild
Buran, tho not changing me, does reign me in when need be. On the flip side of that, he can be very very quiet, and I will make him go out and be social. We arent really trying to change each other, just working together around potential issues with each others characters - its how we deal
However - the big things she should never try to change. Whats the point of being with someone if you just want to change who they are? If you feel the need to change someone - then maybe you should just find someone that fits what YOU want a little better - everyone will be happier off.

For sure any relationship changes you to a degree, whether its new friends or new girlfriends (intimate relationship).
I think most people look for change anyways, at least a change in perspectives, thoughts, etc.

Oh I am by no means saying that if your girlfriend/wife asked you to change something about yourself that in the long run could cause you health issues you should not consider changing that. I am just saying when they want you to change the things that make you who you are as a person that they do not truely love you for you.

is this how all relationships go?

Changes in diet can come just by respecting your girlfriends tastes... my girl doesnt like sushi much but loves vietnamese soup (pho). So I tend to eat pho more often then sushi now... no big deal really, I like both foods pretty well
Changes in clothes? Nah, my girl occassionally grabs a shirt or a pair of pants she sees that she likes, but thankfully she realises I can't dress like a backstreet boy or I will kill myself. So she only buys clothes she knows I like... well, she wont buy me my boots cuz she don't like them too much ("you look like a gangsta!" me - "how can I look like a gangsta? I'm white!" hahaha)...
I hang out with her friends a bit now (they are pretty good people), I watch more girlie movies then ever before (how ot lose a guy in 10 days... etc.).. but fundamentally nothing is different except that I am much happier...
It's already been said in this thread I think, but if she wants to change your fundamentals, then she isnt attracted to you, she is only attracted to the *idea* of you. You being the male she is going to mold into the perfect man for her. Which is absolute scheisse!

Never had a GF try and change me, but the wife that is a different story.
My wifes all tried to change me right after the wedding.
Boy were they in for a shock.
My last wife wanted me to change so many things I had to ask her why the fuck she married me. Quit the porn biz she says, Not fuckin likely I says
I'm 43 and there are some things that are not going to change no matter what, for nobody.
I am who I am

I would have to agree with those who are on the side of relationships change people...
I know I am a different person now then I was over a year ago when I met my babe...
I have softened, I am less likely to spend money drinking my face off and more likely to be found shopping for her lingerie!!
Some changes canbe good others, well I guess it is about the balance!!!
