I don't see any current Canadian military aviation there.
I was in a helicopter squadron for 4 years in Germany. I went to a lot of airshows in Europe. Some of the flying displays were incredible.

***********
A security scare rocked a domestic flight from Melbourne for the second time in a week yesterday when a man was arrested after making threats aboard a Virgin Blue plane before take-off.

The captain of afternoon flight DJ 323 from Melbourne to Brisbane contacted security officers from the tarmac after crew notified him that a man had told a fellow passenger the plane would not reach its destination.

The plane's 140 or so other passengers were told the flight had been delayed because of technical difficulties, but most realised something serious had occurred when Australian Protective Services officers boarded the plane and removed the man.

After an hour, passengers were taken to a secure area of the terminal and interviewed by police.

Federal agent Bill Polychronopoulos said it was not known if the man, 30, would be charged.

"Rob", a Brisbane businessman who sat next to the man, said he had made four threats.

"When I went to my seat and sat down, I made a comment to him that the plane was fairly full . . . and at that point he gave me a very strong and aggressive stare," Rob said. "He did make some allegations that the plane would not make its destination."

Rob, who did not give his full name, alerted the crew after the man referred to the flight as "Bush's plane" and said "it's going down".

At that stage, the plane was taxiing onto the runway.

Passenger Annie McGhee, from the Sunshine Coast, said police had told her the threat was genuine.

She had first noticed the man in the departure lounge. "He didn't look like he could afford to fly. He was sitting around and trying to stare people out. Some of the older passengers on the flight were very upset," she said.

Eric Thain, 55, of Brisbane, also said the man stood out because "his eyes were glazed over and he had appeared drugged out of it . . . it crossed my mind that this fellow was the sort (Prime Minister) John Howard was alerting us to be aware of in those fridge magnets".

Yesterday's incident follows the attempted hijacking of a Qantas plane shortly after take-off from Melbourne on Thursday last week, in which flight crew and passengers tackled a man armed with two wooden stakes.

Virgin Blue spokeswoman Angela Bolger said after yesterday's incident that security had searched the man and it appeared he did not have a weapon, although there were unconfirmed rumours that he was carrying syringes, a bomb and "pointy objects".

A Melbourne Airport spokesperson said that there was no evidence of a security breach.

Transport Minister John Anderson said the man appeared to have staged a stupid stunt and that "unbalanced" people might be grandstanding to gain media attention. He warned that similar copycat incidents in future would attract heavy fines.

Meanwhile, the man allegedly involved in the Qantas hijack attempt, David Mark Robinson, has been transferred to the Thomas Embling psychiatric hospital for treatment

Pretty cool JFK !

I was on the board of director of a local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association ( EAA) for several years.

I worked on homebuild aircrafts quite a lot.

http://www.fubarwebmastersadventures...Img0000171.htm

The S45 Mystère is really looking like the BD-5, aka Lawn Dart, (James Bond Octopussy's one seater micro-jet of which original model is motorized by a propeller in the tail) revamped so that it could be made to fly out of a short field instead of a 2 miles runway. Pretty cool !

I also always fascinated by the SeaWind amphibian
http://www.fubarwebmastersadventures...Img0000189.htm

It was bug ridden at the beginning, very complex to build, but they stuck to the concept and it seems to be getting better. I've heard of a few turbine conversions.

Among other planes that I've always liked is the SeaBee "flying Floating Winnebago"

http://www.fubarwebmastersadventures...Img0000003.htm

Then, there is this exciting turbine conversion of something that looks like an Aerocruiser or a Bush Caddy.
http://www.fubarwebmastersadventures...Img0000117.htm

It takes only a propellerhead to appreciate that, mebbe, by trust me on that, turbine conversions ARE exciting !

I hope you enjoyed yourself. If you're an aero-nerd like me, you sure must have !

On a Continental Flight with a very "senior" flight attendant crew,
the pilot said, "Ladies and gentlemen, we've reached cruising altitude
and will be turning down the cabin lights. This is for your comfort and
to enhance the appearance of your flight attendants."

On landing the stewardess said, "Please be sure to take all your
belongings. If you're going to leave anything, please make sure it's
something we'd like to have."

There may be 50 ways to leave your lover, but there are only 4 ways
out of this airplane."

Thank you for flying Delta Business Express. We hope you enjoyed
giving us the business as much as we enjoyed taking you for a ride."

As the plane landed and was coming to a stop at Washington National,
a lone voice came over the loudspeaker: "Whoa, big fella. WHOA!"

After a particularly rough landing during thunderstorms in Memphis, a
flight attendant on a Northwest flight announced, "Please take care
when opening the overhead compartments because, after a landing like that,
sure as hell everything has shifted."

In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will descend
from the ceiling. Stop screaming, grab the mask, and pull it over your
face.
If you have a small child traveling with you, secure your mask before
assisting with theirs. If you are traveling with more than one small
child .... pick your favorite."

Weather at our destination is 50 degrees with some broken clouds,
but we'll try to have them fixed before we arrive. Thank you, and
remember, nobody loves you, or your money, more than Southwest Airlines."

And from the pilot during his welcome message: "Delta Airlines is
pleased to have some of the best flight attendants in the industry.
Unfortunately, none of them are on this flight!"

Heard on Southwest Airlines just after a very hard landing in Salt
Lake City: The flight attendant came on the intercom and said, "That was
quite a bump, and I know what y'all are thinking. I'm here to tell
you it wasn't the airline's fault, it wasn't the pilot's fault, it wasn't
the flight attendant's fault...it was the asphalt!"

Another flight attendant's comment on a less than perfect landing:
"We ask you to please remain seated as Captain Kangaroo bounces us to the
terminal."

Part of a flight attendant's arrival announcement: "We'd like to
thank you folks for flying with us today. And, the next time you get the
insane urge to go blasting through the skies in a pressurized metal
tube, we hope you'll think of US Airways."

A plane was taking off from Kennedy Airport. After it reached a
comfortable cruising altitude, the captain made an announcement over
the intercom, "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.
Welcome to Flight Number 293, nonstop from New York to Los Angeles. The
weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful
flight. Now, sit back and relax - OH, MY GOD!" Silence followed and
after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said,
Ladies an d Gentlemen, I am so sorry if I scared you earlier; but,
while I was talking, the flight attendant brought me a cup of coffee
and spilled the hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my
pants!" A passenger in Coach said, "That's nothing. He should see the
back of mine!

Whenever you get into an airplane, just remember:

The sky's not the limit, the ground is.
