It all depends on the individual and how aroused she/he may be.

The average vaginal canal is 4-6 inches deep (it can expand a bit during arousal mind you) so extra length does not really matter except for appearance. It is good when they are longer than 6 inches so the person using it can determine how deep they want it to go, but in the end you hit a wall at about 4 inches.

According to Good Vibrations their best selling dildos are in the 1 1/4 - 1 5/8 inch diameter but people who enjoy fisting enjoy larger ones (greater than 2 inches diameter).

I can sort of see how some people might think bigger is better but everyone gets to a point where not much else fits in there anymore. People who use really large toys have usually trained themselves to do it or can only take the bigger toys when they are really turned on.

For myself I definitely have a limit. Past 2 inches in diameter and it hits my pubic bone. No fun, I say.

When I get in the mood to toy shop, I won't buy anything over 8.5 inches long and thicker than 2, maybe 2.5 inches, depending on design and if the the thickness is tapered or not.
