Default My computer is a P3-500

I have the slowest computer in the office. Is it time to upgrade?

Heck I lost track of processor speeds when they came out with the first P3s... lol

If it works for you, stick with it!

Well, the question would be... "If you get the fastest computer in the office, does that mean your responsibilities and your work load increase?"

You can probably get a good deal with dell for $300-400. They often have specials. I used to have a 500mhz but couldn't take it. I have a 2ghz now and it was an amazing upgrade. I say go for it!

How slow is it, that would make the decission for me, I cannot stand waiting for a processor to catch up with me!

I just maxxed out my machine with RAM and upgraded my video card so now I can use my puter as a TV tuner and video editor. It is sweet!!!

I was pretty happy with it until recently, but the speed is finally getting unbearable. Frankly I can't believe it lasted this long.

My new computer arrives tomorrow.

Assuming you're using the same software as you used to, why is it that the machine suddenly slowed down ?

You have three choices to get rid of that feeling that your machine is slow:

1- Spend money to get a faster machine
2- Spend one man-year learning Linux and see the machine fly
3- Hire a computer-saavy secretary

I'd prefer #3. Computers are an unavoidable evil... sigh...

I would chose # 1
Would it really take a year to learn Linux??

Give me a week to learn the basics of it... Everything else would come in time.
