Crispy Creme Doughnuts (tastes like)
2 pkg. yeast
1/4 cup warm water (105-115F)
1 1/2 cup lukewarm milk (scalded then cooled)
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/3 cup shortening
5 cups all-purpose flour, divided
Vegetable oil
Dissolve yeast in warm water in a 2 1/2-quart bowl. Add milk, salt, eggs, shortening and 2 cups flour. Beat on low speed scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed scraping bowl occasionally, 2 minutes. Stir in remaining flour until smooth. Cover and let rise in warm place, until double, 50 to 60 minutes. (Dough is ready when indentation remains when touched.)
Turn dough onto floured surface; roll around lightly to coat with flour. Gently roll dough 1/2-inch thick with floured rolling pin. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Cover and let rise until double, 30 to 40 minutes.
Heat vegetable oil in deep fryer to 350F. Slide doughnuts into hot oil with wide spatula. Turn doughnuts as they rise to the surface. Fry until golden brown, about 1 minute on each side. Remove carefully from oil (do not prick surface); drain.
Dip the doughnuts into Creamy Glaze set on rack; when slightly cooled spread Chocolate Glaze on top. Doughnuts may be dipped into sprinkles or other toppings after Chocolate Glaze is applied if desired.
Creamy Glaze
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 to 6 tablespoons hot water
Heat butter until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency.
Chocolate glaze
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 to 6 tablespoons hot water
4 oz. milk chocolate or semi-sweet chips
Heat butter and chocolate over low heat until chocolate is melted; remove from heat. Stir in confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until of desired consistency.

We can just get the ones that come in the package, are they as good as the ones that you get right at the store?

I knew I should've read this thread earlier in the day. It's almost 1:30AM, and now I have a craving for a Krispy Kreme glazed donut, or maybe a chocolate glazed one, or maybe a cream filled on... LOL! Tim Horton's just isn't going to cut it tonight.

That's BAAAAD.
All of the saturated fat goes into your brain and turn the good omega-3 fats into some bad stuff, then it turns your brain into a lump of rotten swiss cheeze.
Not counting all of the other dangers of fatty foods, full of trans-acid shit.
That said,
WHERE IS THAT DARN KRISPY KREME STORE LOCATED SO THAT I COULD GO GET SOME?

Yeah I think the coffee is the best.
Even when you buy a can to make at home it's better than other brands of coffee. You have to use more though.

My mother is a major coffee addict. When I went home for the first time, I brought her some Tim Horton's coffee. She was hooked! Then when she came to visit, we had to go to a Tim Horton's. That made her addiction even worse. On top of that, she got introduced to Montreal smoked meat. Every couple of weeks she will say to me, "I'm hungry for a smoked meat sandwhich and a cup of Tim Horton's coffee." I'm not a coffee drinker, so I have no concept of what all the fuss is about.

Parents owned doughnut shoppe from time I was 8 til 18... That recipe looks right except for one step... Letting the dough rise a second time between rolling and cutting will make them even lighter...
Dad's glazed doughnuts were about twice as tall as the KK variety and just as light, their glaze has more confectioners sugar added though (thicker)...
