Default GAME ON! NHL reached an agreement

The sides met for 10 straight days in New York, and it became clear Wednesday morning -- the 301st day of the lockout -- that they weren't going to leave the room without an agreement in hand.

The expected salary cap will likely have a ceiling approaching $40 million and a minimum somewhere between $20 million and $25 million.

Just days before the season was wiped out, the players' association said for the first time it would accept a salary cap if the league dropped its desire to link player costs to revenues.

so now that the game is back on - is anyone really going to care?

Similar to the effect on baseball - hockey isnt as much of a sport in the USA and canadians are pissed. This may take a few years to get the excitment and people back into the stadiums.

Nope. They've lost a life long hockey fan in me.

I'd be lying if I said I won't watch it periodically, but contrary to popular opinion, the game has turned to outright shit the last 10 years anyways.

I've said for YEARS that the rules need to be changed to adapt to the International style of play.

Have you watched any International hockey lately? Now THAT'S good hockey. Where a player actually has enough room to skate freely for more than 5 feet without being restricted. Hopefully the rules change the way the game is being played today.

Then listening to players like Jeremy Roenick and Chris Chelios? Please. Thanks, but no thanks. It took me about 8 years to finally go to a WHL game here in my hometown and it BLOWS the NHL away. Kids that WANT to play the game and still have to prove themselves worthy. Once they hit the NHL, the love is gone, and it's as they say...a business. BIG business.

Well, when my cell phone company, or internet provider don't appreciate me as a customer, guess what. They don't get my business. Neither does the NHL.

In canada at least when baseball when on strike the skydome and blue jays have never recovered the fan base. what was once a sold out stadium with 50k fans nearly every game, now barely you can see 15k and thats on a free night or 1$ tickets.

alot of people are upset here that the season was cancelled and took the joy away. many went to the minor leagues and found more dedication and heart (something that is missed in the NHL). going to be some time before anyone would buy a ticket to the game again. In the usa, hockey has no where near the fan base as in canada. Most didnt even realize it was cancelled.

I consider myself somewhat of a hockey fan but your right. I didnt even notice...LOLOL I have been to only one NHL game but a shit load of CHL so I guess I am more of a CHL fan. I got to see Philly and Buffalo play in 98 and I loved it. I was a fan before then because of seeing the Memphis Riverkings and Oklahoma City Blazers play so many times. I consider both those places my home so it was always an exciting game for me. And Memphis just happen to be top news today, better watch out OKC...
