It's interesting how people make a big deal out of this stuff. Old programs get old... the traffic to their sites dies off. People who own them don't put effort into them anymore, and they close 'em due to their efforts on new programs.

It's not a "sign of the times" as so many like to say... it's just people moving on to new ventures.

Sure, Chris. Nothing to do with Visa rejecting cross sells. Nothing to do with boring sites that never update. Nothing to do with banging credit cards. Its all about "moving on". I heard the moon is made of cheese and I am just about to pick up a great deal on this bridge in Brooklyn. Its only five hundred bucks. Wanna get in on the deal?

I have noticed that most of the programs that recently closed their doors were primarily the ones involved in various shady business practices like cross-sales. I also don't believe it has anything to do with the industry in general or is a "sign of the times". I see it as a sign that those that couldn't make a legitimate buck being caught up in the times of tightening up by the banks and credit card companies. Ripping off your customer is never a good long term strategy, and that finally caught up with them all.

Unfortunately, their practices have tarnished many others as they have made the consumer quite gun shy when dealing with Adult.

Guys like this fucked the business. They did for porn what Bernie Madoff did for finance.

So what I said is pretty much the reality, plus what Dan mentioned about certain practices that aren't happening any longer.

How's that bridge workin out for ya?

Bridge is working fine...want in? Actually, I don't think what you said is reality. Old programs that get old seem to be crashing daily. I guess they all got old at the same time. Now if you believe that, then I can even sell you futures on some hot property near the Everglades.
My prediction is that content will ultimately be king. If you don't or can't produce it, then move on before that big old door slams shut. Or.....figure out a better way to market and sell that. You could listen to that b2b lame-o...but prolly not.
I think the future will be in ad agencies. Just like the straight world. This aff marketing thing is failing badly.
I survive because I produce and maintain exclusive content. Otherwise what do you really have? Its kinda like real estate. It always has value.

Very true - there is no real sense in debating why programs go under, could be for many reasons from shady business practices - poor marketing - bad content or simply put, they gave up the hours needed to make it work. We've all heard the reasonings - but as you just put it - creating something exclusive and in demand is one of the keys to surviving... now ... just let us know when your tube site is coming out LOL
