I use the Google toolbar in my browser, and XNations has a ranking of 5/10.

Anyone know how I can get that number higher?

Quality external link exchanges.

Some people say being listing in DMOZ & Yahoo directories makes a difference.

Make sure you've optimized the page well.

Just remember though, the Google toolbar does not necessarily reflect the exact ranking you have in the Google search results themselves. You could have a high PR and rank on page 3 for a particular keyword/keyphrase or vice versa.
